Funny Things That Your Cat Does - Super Kitty Cats

Cats are naturally cute and silly, but sometimes these small and charming creatures do surprising things. Their unique behavior has helped them become an internet sensation with millions of videos and memes being shared on social networking sites.

They have their own way of expressing themselves and understanding the world around them. You've probably seen your cat do some of these things but we put together some funny things your cat does.

Rolling Around

Does your cat flip, throw itself on the ground at your feet, and roll? Is it being influenced by catnip? A roll on the floor is a sign that he or she is feeling secure and wants some attention from you. In this way, your cat claims your space as its own by marking the area with its scent.

Sleeping On Your Shoes

Cat owners may have noticed that their cats have an obvious obsession with shoes, whether that be sniffing, batting at them, or even sleeping on, in, or near them. Objects that smell like you like your shoes and other things that are familiar to them will make them feel safe and at ease. Sleeping on your shoes could very well be a method of self-soothing for your cat while you are away during the day.

Stink Face

You may believe your cat is angry or disgusted with you, or that they are possessed or waiting for you to snap a photo of them for Instagram. Nope! This is called the flehmen response. You're unlikely to see your cat sneer at you because it's a reaction reserved for other cats, or rather, their invisible messages. They detect pheromones left behind by other cats in the environment. The motion of trapping the pheromone with the tongue against a duct in the roof of the mouth produces the lip curl. Stink faces are more common in male cats.

Cat’s Twitching Ears

A cat whose ears rotate with quick, sudden movements is a cat who is on a mission. A cat will move their ears back and forth if they're ready to execute the attack. This is yet another great opportunity to indulge your cat's hunting instincts, but this time make sure they're focused on toys rather than your feet. However, If their ears are slightly pointed upward, it indicates that they are alert and simply listening intently to their surroundings.

Head Butting

Cats' unique behavior includes bunting—that odd way your cat head-butts you. The technical term is bunting and refers to the way a cat presses and rubs its head or body against another cat, a human, or even a trusted family dog. This is done to mark you with their scent and claim you as their own. You’re mine hooman!

If I Fits, I Sits

Cats' ability to "comfortably" fit themselves into small spaces never ceases to amaze or entertain us. Is there anything cuter than a pair of adorable beady eyes peeking from a box or even curled up in a tiny box, three times smaller than them? Cats are known for seeking out small hiding places, and while this behavior is adorable, it also keeps cats safe and warm.

Thinking You're Not Capable Of Taking Care Of Yourself

It's why they bring you mice and other dead animals (or in the case of my two very indoor cats, toys) — they think you suck at hunting, so they're bringing you dinner. How sweet.

What's Up, Cat Butt?

Believe it or not, sometimes cats stick their butt in your face to show you just how much they love and trust you! We misinterpret that behavior and view it as insulting, bad, or gross. Always remember, presenting their vulnerable part is a sign of companionship and trust.

Knock Off!

Why do cats like to knock things over? It may also be for the simple reason that they just enjoy it. Bored cats find ways to entertain themselves, and knocking things off and seeing the objects drop on the floor might do the trick.

Most parents of cats agree that they adore their feline friends because of the weird things cats do. The way they roll around on the floor, the way they give you that stinky face, sticking their butt on our face and knocking up things on the countertop. These cute cats might be doing the most utterly weird stuff, but they still manage to be the best pet companion one can have.
